Trip - Part 3

Now it's Monday, and time for the event that was the reason for this trip -- the burial service for Mom's mom, Grammy.

Daddy, washing our van :)

Literally within a stone's throw of the huge Lincoln tomb (seen here) is the family burial plot where Grammy is buried! Supposedly, no-one is buried in that cemetery anymore except if they are famous and are asked. ;)

Getting ready -- last minute ties and such

 The funeral director

Dad & Andrew were asked to read some verses at the service

Ben played, "Now Thank We All Our God."

 Closing the lid

Lowering it in the ground (it was heavy -- this poor guy had a bit of trouble!)

Grammy's father, the portrait painter, is buried here

 His wife is here

Look at the death dates on this one -- John Talbott (Grammy's grandfather, so my great-great-grandfather) died in 1902, and his wife remained a widow until her death in 1977.

Aunt Jeanie read some meaningful questions and answers they had asked Grammy the last time they saw her -- that was really neat! Thanks, Aunt Jeanie!

 Gathering for pics afterwards

 Grammy's four children

The four youngest -- whoops, maybe not ;)

This man kindly took a group picture -- after being coached by Uncle Ken (I don't know if the man had ever taken a photograph before ;)

Uncle Ken makes him look like a midget ;)

So great to be able to visit with relatives!
