Beautiful Modesty

Yesterday, I saw Deborah browsing the old posts on this blog, and I realized that I haven't done a post on modesty/beautiful clothing in quite a while! And it's an important subject, because modesty can be beautiful! So, here goes...

This painting conveys a sense of quiet beauty that is refreshing (white dresses have such a stunning simplicity about them!)

While I've never worn anything exactly like this, it's amazing to see how in 40's fashions, attractiveness didn't equal amount of flesh displayed (like it unfortunately seems to mean today!)

In this photo, my grandmother looks so sweet and put together :)

Sometimes, its the detailing that takes an outfit from "plain" to "lovely."

 Swimwear from long ago!

This little charmer is the daughter of a dear friend of mine -- her outfit was too cute not to post! :)

 Simple winter elegance :)

A reminder that even when we do chores around the house, we don't have to look frumpy! ;)

This is me, Ben, Beth, and Nathaniel quite a few years ago. :) Those easy-on dresses were so comfortable for active, growing girls --and so cute, too!

Beth, Andrew, and friend Deborah S.. Jumpers are another really easy but sweet outfit -- so many mixing and matching options!

 Primped and put together... :)

 Quite classy!

 What a fun skirt!

Modesty can be attractive even today -- here's a modern ad

Princess Letizia demonstrates beauty and modesty...

And while this skirt is shorter than I'd wear, here's another lovely example (the Prince and Princess of Denmark)!

I'd like to close with a simple but profound quote that sums up so much:
May we grow in inward beauty!
