Saturday dawned bright and clear -- a perfect day! The Bonham Fire Dept. was hosting a "Fireman's Rodeo," and Bailey VFD was among the contestants, so of course we showed up to watch and cheer them on! :)
Here I am with two of my very favorite people! :)
Bonham's Engine 2
The first contest involved each team (four or five guys) putting on full bunker gear, trying to race the clock!
There are lots of layers involved!
Dad :)
Bailey VFD sets up their gear...
These old guys were part of a "Wild West"-type reenactment
Poised to start...
Faster!
So many straps to fasten just right...
Each team had to have one man put on the full SCBA, and Andrew was the one who did it for Bailey.
No, he's not being attacked -- they're helping him with the SCBA! ;)
Another department attempts the same thing...
Talking before the next event...
"On your mark, get set..."
This next event (also timed) involved connecting up three hoses and knocking down a target.
Running with a section of hose (they're heavy!)
Connecting up
Success!
Bonham's guys do it next (Bonham was the only paid fire department competing --the others are all volunteer)
Next up: Bailey! :)
Lane
Nathaniel and Kevin
Ready...
Action!
Dustin runs to join...
And it's down! :)
