I love how this unique painting manages to capture the "feel" of Victorian England...
Another atmospheric street scene by Childe Hassam
Beth, this painting makes me think of you -- remember Chesterton's short story on goldfish?
William S. Falter is a new favorite of mine -- his works are so vividly crisp and yet nostalgic...
Elisha,
ReplyDeleteThose plane pictures are so astounding!!! I showed them to my pilot brother.
Thanks for posting
Kezia, thanks for your comment I'm glad you enjoyed these paintings! :)
DeleteI have this sneaking suspicion that you like reflected light...
ReplyDeleteI wonder... ;)
DeleteWhat is reflected light? What do you mean by that?
DeleteAny how, I like the pictures:)
You see reflected light especially in the first two paintings -- the water on the road reflecting the lights above. Does that make sense? :)
DeleteNice to hear from you! :)
If you look at all the paintings Elisha picked, they all have light reflected off a wet surface (rain, clouds, puddles, rivers, a fish bowl...). I don't know if she planned it that way (she may have; she's good about finding commonalities in artwork), but that was the common motif thing all the paintings together.
ReplyDeleteLucid as always, dear friend -- much better than my little explanation! ;) You have that gift of crisp, clear commentary. :)
DeleteMiss you bunches!
Elisha
*grins*
DeleteAnd you have excellent taste in artwork.
I miss you, too... :-/
That was supposed to be tying, not thing... Sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteOh!!!! I had not even noticed that. My eyes went straight to the airplanes. The painting with the lady on the bike reminds me of Corrie Ten Boon and The Hiding Place.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the explanation.
