Art

Expect pictures from our San Antonio trip soon;
in the meantime, I'd like to share these two paintings, both made of the Rue St. Denis in Paris. Note how the time period makes a difference in the style of the painting and the clothes everyone is wearing:
Jean Béraud, "Le Boulevard St. Denis"

Eugène Galien-Laloue, "Porte Saint-Denis"

Do you have a favorite?

  1. Ah! the same Rue St. Denis that Denis went northward (or was it westward?) in "The Mob Rises?"

    I don't know which one I like better... hmmm... maybe the first one if I had to pick just one. But both are really nice.

    1. Yes, you're right -- although the arch wasn't there when Denis was "alive." It's post-Napoleonic, I believe. :)
