Very Much Belated Part II of the Costume Party...

Nathaniel demonstrates some technique while we wait for our guests!

Mr. Foss contemplates them serenely.

And our first guests have arrived! Here is Jaden K. as Sergeant Alvin York, a very courageous and sharpshooting soldier from World War I.

Johanna K. as Princess Adelina from 700 A.D. A brave Christian maiden who becomes the wife of the ruler of Thuringia under the threat that all her fellow Christians will be exiled if she does'nt. Adelina courageously perseveres and in the end wins her husband as it says in 1Peter 3:1---
"Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;"

Phoebe K. came as Phoebe Knapp, a composer who wrote the tunes over 500 hymns one such being Blessed Assurance!

Mrs. K was a young English lady

Caleb K. was Bill Henderson a Marine on Iwo Jima who survived the whole fortnight (?) of fighting before Iwo Jima was captured.

Bethany G. dressed as Tcernicieru, a Romanian woman who stood fast for the faith even though it meant losing her job and eventually being put in prison after trying to escape Romania.

Hannah G. was Anna Corbell, a heroine of the faith from Czechlslovakia.

Mrs. G. was Elizabeth Elliott, who was a great inspiration to her to "do the next thing".
"At an old English parsonage down by the sea,

there came in the twilight a message to me.
Its quaint Saxon legend deeply engraven
that, as it seems to me, teaching from heaven.
And all through the hours the quiet words ring,
like a low inspiration, 'Do the next thing.'

Many a questioning, many a fear,
many a doubt hath its quieting here.
Moment by moment, let down from heaven,
time, opportunity, guidance are given.
Fear not tomorrow, child of the King,
trust that with Jesus, do the next thing.

Do it immediately, do it with prayer,
do it reliantly, casting all care.
Do it with reverence, tracing His hand,
who placed it before thee with earnest command.
Stayed on omnipotence, safe 'neath His wing,
leave all resultings, do the next thing.

Looking to Jesus, ever serener,
working or suffering be thy demeanor,
in His dear presence, the rest of His calm,
the light of His countenance, be thy psalm.
Do the next thing."

Mr. G. as George Washington Carver

Mrs. R. came as a Northern Spy

Stefon as Nathaniel Bowditch, who was a brilliant mathematician and navigator.

Aaron was Mosab Hassan Yousef-- who is a Palestinian and son of a Hamas founder and leader. Israel's internal security service, Shin Bet, considered Yousef, who spied for them from 1997 to 2007, the most valuable source within the Hamas leadership.
The information Yousef supplied prevented dozens of suicide attacks and the assassination of Israelis, and exposed numerous terrorist groups. Yousef has since converted to Christianity and moved to California, in the United States.

It is nice to see more photos of the party.

    Have a blessed evening,

  2. It was funny, when the boys who were dressed up in the military outfits, got their photo taken with "Lukas Foss", that it looked like the President and his bodyguards! :)
