An Autumn Party at the Moore's!

We've never been to the Moore's place before, but we enjoyed it!

These trees were a gorgeous wall on one side...

And on the other, that most-important thing: a volleyball net ;)

I couldn't decide which of these pics of beautiful Mommy to post, so I'm including them all:

Stephen and friends

The bonfire! By now, it has burned down to a more sedate height -- at first, it was as tall as the trees!

Caught in the glow...

Fire!

Guardians of the flame...

And to finish the evening, a hayride! What fun!

Andrew Turns 17!!!

Happy Birthday to a great guy! Andrew, I respect you for your passion for the lost, your interest in the Word of God, your character - and much, much more!

(even if his face belies it, he really liked this present!)

Pumpkin pie!

Our diligent window-washer

Risk, single-handed ;)

The lovely glimpse out our bathroom window

Autumn is here!

"There is something about autumn
That brings out such earthiness
Gold leaves adorn bushes and trees
Like an artist with a brilliant brush.

…What a dazzling way to end
The year as winter nears
The way leaves let loose
And drop like nature’s tears.

Oh yes, I love those golden days
Dreamy with autumn’s glow
It makes me smile because I do
Love the season of autumn so!"

-Marilyn Lott

A day...

The rising sun is creeping downwards across the autumn-y trees, while the grass lies white and still under its coverlid of frost...

Beauty

Another view of the frost

A beautiful sunrise -- if one imagines the telephone pole somewhere else! ;)

Buddies

Need a mower/weedeater/chainsaw/generator/pressure washer fixed? Andrew's the guy to go to!

Cowboy!

Having never used a paint spray-can before, I took the plunge for the sake of art -- and spray-painted my frame a gorgeous turquoise! Here it's hanging at the shop to dry.

And in my room

Some special photos:  our family, groomsmen at Beth's wedding, Beth & Erich on their honeymoon, Nathaniel & I having a great time at a costume party, and my dear friend Karen. I enjoy changing photos in this frame, and the ability to display several at once! :)

Deborah turns 10!

The 50's housewife studies a card... ;)

A dollhouse!!!

It was Mom's idea to use zinnias on the cupcakes -- aren't they charming?

"Surprise!!!"

As a surprise for Deborah, Mom invited the Griggs over! :)

Deborah and her two special friends.

What a lovely meal Mom prepared!

Another shot of the gorgeous plate -- a feast for eyes and taste buds.

Art

A present from Bethany!

The creative guys' use of the zinnias from their cupcakes and the sticks from their shishkebobs ;)

What a lovely view we have when we walk to get our mail!

Autumn

Wild persimmon leaves...

The cake was a team effort -- Andrew made it, and Ben decorated it

Balloon twisting buddies -- making dogs and what have you ;)

Happy Birthday, Deborah!!!! We are so glad you are part of our family!

"Life"

One of Beth's roses (a bridal shower gift) blooms in her absence...

A wild persimmon flushes into vivid color

What are we doing? Re-decorating the girl's room! Coral pink and Turquoise (light & dark) is our theme.

Our three cats. As Micah remarked, "You can tell which one is top cat because he's the one who is eating first and the others have to watch him." Even though Sheriff is getting old, he's still on top! :)

An unfinished decorating transition, but heading in the right direction ;)

Deborah now has this bed -- my how she loves it! :)

Stephen

And not trying to end on a sour note, but this isn't sour note to us -- it's an event of gratefulness to God for sparing Dad from bad injury or even death. This picture shows minor damage, where the car smashed into the 635 median...

This photo shows the back. Dad's car was rear-ended by a semi as he was driving on the crowded, four-lane 635. He spun all the way across, hit the median, and finally managed to regain control of the car. It's a miracle he wasn't hit by other cars as he spun across their lanes! We are so grateful to God for causing only damage to the car. What would we do without our best friend, counsellor, provider, encourager, selfless example, and spiritual leader: Dad?

Next post: Deborah's birthday!
