Today, I'd like to share a teeny sneak-preview from the speech I'm giving this evening at the KBR Conference in Kansas City. It's an analogy--and as everyone knows, analogies are limited. But with that warning, I thought I'd share it:

Have you ever seen the York Minster Cathedral? It took 252 years to build! That means about five generations of craftsmen worked on it!
Think of it!

Your stonemason father, who’d worked on it all his life, would grow old and die,
and you would begin work on it—

and when you grew too old to work, your grandchildren would join the ranks of workmen,

and it would still not be completed…
Simply amazing! Five generations of men, building the same thing, pursuing the same goals, produced—
this:

It’s an awe-inspiring monument to human planning and the carrying on of a vision. It’s a beautiful work of art.

It took continuity of vision, a “passing down” of purpose to the coming generations, to build the York Minster Cathedral.
May we young people be faithful, like the builders of this cathedral.
May we stand on our parent’s shoulders and use the godly principles God has showed them to climb higher towards Christ-likeness, to conquer more for Christ!

  1. Wonderful analogy Elisha! I will be praying for you as you teach other young ladies that which the Lord has put on your heart.

    Kind Regards,
    Kezia
